Nurture: Help support urban farming education
A School Garden Extravaganza fundraiser for Farmer Frog will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 30 in the garden at Olivia Park Elementary School, 200 108th St. SW, Everett. Join gardening guru Ciscoe Morris (4-6 p.m.), Taco Time NW, Whole Foods and Farmer Frog in the garden where it all began.
The event includes games, prizes, food, garden tours and live music. Each admission includes three raffle tickets for prizes including a pallet box instant raised garden bed, garden tools, fruit trees and more. Tickets are $25, $15 for kids age 11 and older, and free for kids 10 and younger.
All proceeds benefit Farmer Frog’s volunteer farmers, garden education and school gardens.

Immerse: Everett’s first 50 years in photos
The Everett Museum of History displays the exhibit “Through the Lens: The Story of Everett’s First Fifty Years in Photographs” through Sept. 7 at the Schack Art Center, 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett.
The images represent the work of many photographers drawn to early boomtown Everett as it rapidly evolved from a forested peninsula to a roaring new industrial city on Puget Sound. Everett’s founding coincided with some of the world’s greatest photographic advancements.

Ham: Learn a new hobby in Brier
The Emergency Services Coordinating Agency in Brier holds an amateur (or “ham”) radio technician course 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays for seven weeks starting Sept. 21 at Brier City Hall, 2901 228th St. SW. The Federal Communications Commission exam is set for Nov. 9. The beginner-level course is required to enter the hobby of ham radio. Registration is required. The only cost for the course is a workbook for $25, which must be ordered by Sept. 7. The exam fee is $15.
