I was recently at lunch with friends at Fisherman’s Market &Grill at Harbor Marine in Everett. When I got to my car, I noticed a paper tucked under the windshield wiper. It was a $20 gift certificate to Harbor Marine from a grateful veteran.
My late husband, Stephen, was a World War II veteran and during his time in the service, on his 18th bombing mission over Germany, his plane was shot down. He was picked up by the Nazis, interrogated and placed in Stalag 17. He remained there 13 months before being liberated. His service entitled him free license plates for his car, as well as other veteran benefits. I want to thank the veteran who noticed the plate, left the gift certificate, and I hope he sees this thank you. I will take a veteran to lunch at Harbor Marine. It’s a great place to eat.
