I’ve been reading the newspaper for some 30 years and do not always agree, but on Thursday I was shocked to read a front page story on our firefighters. I highly disagree with Chief Murray Gordon’s remark and comments about the actions of our firefighters on duty; what they did was take a constant 911 caller (100 times) and handled it with care and concern. Arranging a ride out of harm’s way, providing him water, taking his coat off in the 82 degree weather (which by the way was refreshing when you consider all the 90 degree days) and placing him where he would be comfortable. Why is this wrong? Would the city prefer that this man fall in the streets and cause a possible accident harming others? May I remind you that there are firefighters currently giving up their lives, enduring God knows what to save lives. What they did was save a life. Unbelievable how the Everett Fire Department should be disgraced by something so minor as this.
