Wow! Thursday, The Herald printed a real whopper of a letter denying human-caused global warming. (“Alarmists deny scientific fact.”) It listed all the usual nonsense.
Seriously, NASA just announced July is the hottest month on record! It expects 2015 to be the hottest year on record! The earth just set its all-time high single heat index temperature reading of 165 degrees F! What cooling? Over the last 100 years, earth’s average surface temperature and, over the last several decades, the heat content in the deep oceans, have steadily increased — even while the sun’s output was at its lowest!
For all the nonsense to be true, the laws of physics would have to up-ended and the climate-specific findings from our country’s leading scientific organizations including the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, NASA and NOAA would have to be reversed. All this is highly unlikely. Only those unfamiliar with the science or who reject or purposely distort the science repeat such nonsense.
C’mon, Herald, what’s next? Letters claiming the earth is flat, tobacco doesn’t cause cancer, or what is that on top of Trump’s head?
