Regarding the article, “A Snohomish family, not named McCleary, part of school-funding lawsuit”: The primary reason the Venemas family of Snohomish were compelled to join with the Network of Excellence in Washington Schools in a suit against the state for underfunding schools is Boeing.
The governor and our state representatives caved into the idle threats of the Lazy B, already fattened up at the trough of federal dollars by way of unscrutinized runaway defense expenditures, to leave Washington unless excused from paying $9 billion in taxes here. Ergo, not enough money. Naturally some of those unpaid taxes would need to go to the aforementioned lawmakers in the form of campaign contributions.
Little wonder our schools are underfunded, our infrastructure is crumbling, and the social safety net is Swiss cheese.
I have much admiration for the Venemas. Boeing can threaten to leave and go straight to hell for all I care. They’re a parasite we cannot afford to host; they can take our elected officials with them.
