On Aug. 27, my husband and I were coming from Monroe and heading south on Highway 522. About mile 4 we had a blowout on our car. We were in the fourth lane, so it was easy to pull to the side of the road. My husband is a handicapped veteran and 85-year-old senior. We called his road service and they said they would send help. So we waited for them to arrive.
Meanwhile, a truck pulled in behind us and a young man asked if he could help us. He was heading toward Monroe and he saw that we needed help and so he went to Monroe, turned around and came back to offer help.
He got our spare tire out, and put it on our car. Just as he was finishing up, the road service arrived.
We want to thank the young man, Gary Smith, of Gold Bar. He knew we called road service, but wanted to help us. He said if his Mom was sitting on the side of the road, he would hope someone would help her. What a gentleman. We hope to do a good deed to repay his kindness. Thank you, Gary.
