BREMERTON — An employee at a Bremerton museum is recovering after being bitten by a python in the museum’s reptile exhibit.
KING-TV reported that the 10-foot long Burmese python named Stella attacked the employee at the Bremerton Bug Museum as the employee tried feeding the snake.
Museum owner Randi Jones says the woman hadn’t been properly trained to handle Stella. She took the snake into a back room where it became aggressive after smelling thawed rodents. The snake then struck the woman’s leg.
When firefighters arrived, the snake was still latched onto the woman.
Lt. Glenn Pappuleas with South Kitsap Fire and Rescue says the snake eventually lifted its head and firefighters were able to grab ahold of it.
The woman is expected to return to work Tuesday.
