I live on Colby Avenue between 36th and 33rd, and this stretch of street heading north has become a racetrack, especially between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. daily. It seems that it is a challenge to see who can get ahead when the two lanes merge to one. People are driving faster and faster, and it’s only a matter of time before a pedestrian gets run down as they try to cross at 35th and Colby. Additionally, this street gets even heavier-than-usual traffic when the freeway north is backed up.
Several months ago an Everett police car would park in front of an apartment building in the 3400 block once or twice a week and would pull over cars as they raced by. Every 10 minutes or so he would ticket someone. I realize that the police have a lot on their plates most of the time, but this area is getting very dangerous, especially with people trying to cross the street with no crosswalks in sight.
