The Everett Silvertips announced Wednesday that they have signed 17-year-old forward Devon Skoleski to a WHL standard player agreement.
“Devon came into camp as a free agent invite and made an impact on us very quickly,” Silvertips general manager Garry Davidson said in a press release. “He’s a testimony to the rewards that are around the corner when a strong work ethic meets opportunity. He gets around the ice very well and has a great skill package. With his history of offensive production, we’re confident his upside will be a tremendous fit.”
A native of St. Adolphe, Manitoba, Skoleski scored 25 goals and added 31 assists in 44 games last season for the Eastman Selects of the Manitoba Midget Hockey League. Skoleski stands 5-foot-9 and weighs 150 pounds.
The Silvertips also announced Wednesday that defenseman Tyler Fraser and left wing Nik Malencia have been released.
Montana Onyebuchi, Everett’s third-round selection in this year’s WHL Bantam Draft has been assigned to the Eastman Selects. Onyebuchi signed with the Tips last week, but is ineligible to play as a 15-year-old this season.
