Silvertips fall to Prince George

The Silvertips suffered their first defeat of the preseason Thursday morning, dropping a 4-2 decision to Prince George at the Tri-City preseason tournament in Kennewick.

The Cougars took leads of 2-0 and 3-1. The Silvertips cut it to 3-2 on recent signee Devon Skoleski’s goal at 8:33, but Prince George scored on a power play eight minutes later for the game’s final tally. Matt Fonteyne scored an unassisted goal in the first period for Everett. You can see the box score here.

One bright spot was the continued impressive play of Mario Petit. Returning starter Carter Hart allowed three goals in 16-plus minutes before he was lifted for Petit, who has now allowed a single goal in 103 minutes. Petit registered 16 saves Thursday following a shutout victory over Spokane Saturday at the Holiday Inn Classic.

Everett wasn’t without chances as it out-shot Prince George 38-25.
