MONROE — A 66-year-old Monroe man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly brandishing a knife during a road-rage encounter. He was booked into jail for investigation of second-degree assault. No injuries were reported.
The confrontation was reported just after 2 p.m. near the intersection of W. Columbia Street and Dickinson Road, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.
The victim, a 19-year-old Monroe man, said he was driving down Blueberry Lane when the suspect’s car pulled in front of him and slowed to 5 mph.
The 19-year-old honked his horn and passed the 66-year-old, who began following him, “yelling and gesturing out the window,” Willis said.
Both drivers ended up pulling over, and the 66-year-old “got out with a long knife and lunged at the passenger side of the Acura, stabbing at the vehicle,” Willis said.
The suspect had his 15-year-old grandson in the car at the time.
