I have commented before about the stranglehold left wing Democrats have on the politics and politicians in the state of Washington and especially Western Washington. A major reason for this is the “top two” primary system that was foisted upon us some years ago by the Democratic majority in Washington. The end result is that we end up with a choice between a liberal Democrat and a more liberal Democrat for most political races in the general elections.
Any voter who is an independent or a Republican is for all practical purposes disenfranchised when it comes to voting in the general elections. Any candidate who is not a Democrat has the deck stacked against him or her which is why most Democratic candidates have little or no real challengers in local elections.
Now we see our state Supreme Court, which is owned and operated by the labor unions and teachers union (which is why the state Supreme Court recently ruled against charter schools that were approved by the electorate recently), and the vested interest groups that want a state income tax. The Supreme Court has stepped way beyond their scope of responsibility to make laws instead of interpreting laws in their recent rulings regarding funding for education. Their rulings are a blatant attempt to force us into a state income tax to allegedly fund education (even though the people of Washington have voted against a state income tax numerous times.) It is my understanding that there is a movement to recall all of the Supreme Court justices. Count me in!
The amazing thing to me about all of this is that the people in this region (and the local media) seem to be OK with all of this. As long as this is true, we will continue to elect people like the loons who run Seattle and the tax-and-spend politicians who run this state and represent us in the other Washington. God help us!
