The Everett Silvertips have announced that next Friday’s game, originally scheduled to be played in Portland, will instead be played at Xfinity Arena at 7 p.m. The Tips wrap up the preseason schedule the following night at home against Victoria.
On Friday Everett defeated Portland for the second time in as many tries this exhibition season, this time by a 3-1 margin. You can find the box score here. The Silvertips are now 4-1 in preseason action.
All four of the game’s goals came in the second period. Spencer Gerth scored off an assist from Dawson Leedahl at 4:09. The Winterhawks tied it at 9:12 with a goal from Alex Overhardt, but Patrick Bajkov gave Everett the lead for good at 11:36. Leedahl added the final tally for Everett on a power play at 19:48.
Leedahl has looked good thus far in the preseason, tallying two goals and three assists to tie Yan Khomenko (three goals, two assists) for the preseason lead in points. Bajkov and Matt Fonteyne each have two goals and an assist so far.
Mario Petit continued to impress in goal as he recorded 24 saves. Petit has now allowed just two goals in more than 163 minutes of ice time.
I’m a day late on this, but it appears Noah Juulsen will not participate in the Montreal Canadiens’ rookie camp as he continues to recover from a concussion suffered prior to the opening of training camp. Meanwhile Nikita Scherbak is looking to turn some heads at camp as he tries to make Montreal’s roster.
Twenty-year-old forward Carson Stadnyk had one shot as the Blues prospects played the Columbus Blue Jackets prospects the NHL Prospect Tournament Friday in Traverse City, Mich.
