It doesn’t matter what time of day or which direction I’m going, the timing of the traffic lights don’t make any sense to me. Yesterday, I was southbound and stopped at Beverly Park and the light at 112th was green with absolutely no one using the intersection. It seems to me that I should be able to travel the speed limit and generally make the lights, but instead it seems that the priority is given to the east west roads.”
Everett Public Works spokesperson Marla Carter got this quick response from department staff: “The short answer is that this is related to the (hot mix asphalt) overlay. The contractor is out splicing the loops that were replaced, and they are scheduled to be finished on Airport this week.”
The paving project on Airport Road is a joint project between the city and Snohomish County, who both had paving projects planned this summer on the corridor. The estimated total for the work was just over $4.2 million, most of that in the city limits.
Everett took the lead on the project, which was the largest on its 2015 to-do list. A new car-tab fee is among the funding sources.
