Weekend best bets: Flying pumpkins, lighthouse fest, bird fest

By the water: The 50th annual Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival is Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will be food, entertainment, artist booths, a beer garden and fireworks.

For birders: The Puget Sound Bird Fest is Friday through Sunday in Edmonds. There are guided bird walks, field trips, child-friendly activities, educational exhibits and more. On Saturday, from 4 p.m. to dusk, check out the Vaux’s swifts that put on a show in Monroe. Get more info about both events in our story.

Watch out! The Pumpkin Hurl and Medieval Faire is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Alexander Farm, corner of 43rd Avenue SE and Ebey Island Road, Everett. Watch pumpkins fly and armored warriors battle. There will be a costume contest and a medieval village. Admission is $8; free for ages 4 and under.

Look back: Take a stroll back in time on Sunday with the Centennial Trail History Walk. You can learn about the history of the trail at four locations. Read more in our story.

Touch a Truck: Kids can explore big rigs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Asbery Field, 1605 Seventh St. NE, Marysville. Horns and sirens will happen from 10 a.m. to noon. Get more info.

Arty: Arlington Arts Council presents Art in Legion Park from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Legion Park. There will be lots of art, naturally, as well as live entertainment. Read more in our story.

Sip: The Snohomish Summer Wine Walk starts at 5 p.m. Saturday on First Street. You can stroll downtown Snohomish and sip wine from local wineries. The cost is $15 in advance or $18 at the door. Bring your own glass.

Shiny: Check out cool cars at Saturday’s Wheels on the Waterfront Classic Charity Car Show on the Everett waterfront. About 400 cars will be on display. Details are in our story.

Dine out: Seven of Edmonds’ nicest restaurants are offering three-course meals for $30 on Sundays through Thursdays until the end of the month. In honor of the season, each restaurant has at least one dish that features pumpkin. Get more info in our story.
