REDMOND — The parents of a two-year-old girl who was hit and killed by a car at a Redmond shopping center are suing the center and the driver.
KOMO-TV reported that Veronica and Jonathan Dreher allege the Redmond Town Center ignored safety standards. The suit says landscaping wasn’t maintained and obstructed the driver’s view and the playground wasn’t properly fenced.
Susie Dreher was hit just feet from the playground on July 1st. The child was at the center with her four-year-old sister and their nanny when she ran out onto the roadway in front of the car.
The driver wasn’t arrested, but a toxicology report showed he had opiates and methamphetamine in his system.
A spokesman for the center said it takes guests’ safety seriously. He declined to comment on the lawsuit.
