I’m sorry. I cannot take it any more. I have put up with the numerous spelling and grammatical errors in The Herald for a long time, but this needs to stop! For example, “’s” (apostrophe S) is possessive. It is used in The Herald on almost all anniversary notices as an indication of plurality. Example: “The Smith’s celebrate their 50th” is not correct. The correct usage is “The Smiths celebrate…” Now if the phrase was “The Smiths’ 50th anniversary will be celebrated. …” Then you can add apostrophe after the S for plural possessive. Please notify your staff who puts these ads together that they need to brush up on basic English. Thank you. Lesson over.
P.S. If you are looking to hire a great proofreader, please let me know. I’m available!
