There was a personnel move Tuesday from Everett Silvertips headquarters as the Tips acquired Edmonton Oil Kings left wing Brandon Ralph in exchange for a fourth round pick in next year’s WHL bantam draft.
Ralph (6-foot-2, 191 pounds) is a 19-year-old originally from Fort McMurray, Alberta, who is entering his third full year in the WHL. Last season he tallied five goals and six assists in 67 games for the Oil Kings. During the 2013-14 season he had eight goals with two assists in 46 games. He appeared in one game during the 2012-13 season as a member of Edmonton’s Memorial Cup championship team.
“Brandon is a proven presence with two years in the Western Hockey League and plays an up-and-down game that we’re confident will be a solid fit for our lineup,” Everett general manager Garry Davidson said in a press release. “His physical approach is defined by strength, experience, and efficiency in the defensive zone – key elements that can be extremely beneficial for the development of our young group.”
He appeared in three preseason games for Edmonton, scoring one goal against Red Deer on Sept. 5.
Here’s a story that appeared in Fort McMurray Today from 2014 that describes Ralph’s journey – at least up until last season.
