The Silvertips cut their roster by one Wednesday as they assigned defenseman Cam Dykstra to the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League.
Dykstra, 17, signed a WHL standard player agreement on Sept. 3. He is the son of former NHL player Steve Dykstra, and played last season for the Dallas Stars U-16 team of the Tier-1 Elite Hockey League. The younger Dykstra appeared in three preseason games for Everett.
The Silvertips’ roster now sits at 29 players. Remember Everett must cut down to 25 by the start of the regular season next week. The Silvertips actually prefer to carry 23 during the season.
We had this story on Tuesday’s trade with Edmonton that netted Everett left wing Brandon Ralph for a fourth round pick in the 2016 bantam draft. I was told Ralph was en route from Edmonton Wednesday and is expected to play this weekend.
The Montreal Canadiens announced their training camp roster and as expected Nikita Scherbak is on the 58-player list. Noah Juulsen is not as he has yet to participate due to the concussion he suffered three weeks ago.
