Snohomish County Fire District 1 candidate Erica Ash will meet incumbent Commissioner Bob Meador in the Nov. 3 general election.
The two are running for one of two Fire District 1 positions on the November ballot.
Fire District 1 includes unincorporated areas of Snohomish County south of Everett. The cities of Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace and Brier get fire service from the district by contract, but don’t vote in district elections.
Ash has sent this statement introducing herself to voters. Meador has not sent a statement. Here is Ash’s statement:
Fire Protection District No. 1, Commissioner Position 1
Bob Meador: No response
Erica Ash: Some of you may remember me from the 2013 election. I am the founder/owner of Ash Consulting and have held numerous financial leadership positions in governmental entities, not-for-profits and Fortune 100 companies. In addition, I have a MBA from UW and am a licensed CPA.
Although my last attempt at running for Fire Commissioner did not end as I had hoped, I am not giving up! Over the last two years, I have spent a considerable amount of time attending District board meetings, talking with firefighters and attempting to learn everything that I can in preparation for this election. What has become clear to me is that the District has numerous, competing priorities that put substantial demands on limited financial resources – none more important than consistent emergency response times and firefighter training/safety.
Given my background as a small-business owner and financial executive, coupled with my experience as a board member, I believe that I would bring a much needed, fresh perspective to the Board. In addition, I am exceptionally qualified to provide budget oversight, assist in setting aside adequate reserves to meet current and future financial needs while ensuring that safety and response times are not jeopardized in the process – this is what I do best!
Vote for Erica Ash and support the candidate who is endorsed by the District’s Firefighters in Local 1828!
