“Let’s work together to get things done.” That is Neil Tibbott’s slogan, candidate for Edmonds City Council position 7. For those who follow Edmonds politics, that phrase should have a special meaning. For too many years we have seen our city council “spin its wheels” with lots of talk but not much action. They have spent a fair amount of money on retreats and consultants to try to learn how to play nice and get along, but not much has changed.
I believe Neil can, and will, make that change for the better. He has the credentials to back up his words. He is the chair of the Edmonds Planning Board and has been on the board since 2011. Neil has been appointed for two terms on the Edmonds Transportation Committee, in 2005 and 2011. He has volunteered his services with the Edmonds Art Festival and numerous other local organizations. He is the executive director of a non-profit organization. He has advanced degrees in urban studies with a focus on community development. Neil has studied urban issues for over 24 cities around the Puget Sound region as a part of his work with clients.
Because of his dedication and numerous efforts on behalf of the citizens of Edmonds, I believe Neil is the best candidate, but most of all, I support Neil because he believes that the best approach to getting things done is working together.
There are times when a change in leadership is called for. Neil will make a difference. I think that with Neil, the citizens of Edmonds will once again be proud of a city council that works together for the greater good of our community.
