Marketing Solutions president named finalist for teaching award

The president of Mill Creek-based Marketing Solutions was recently announced as a finalist for the 2015 University of Washington Bothell Dean’s Undergraduate Part-time Teaching Excellence Award. Andrew Ballard has been teaching entrepreneurship and business courses for the UW Bothell since 2013. Ballard started Marketing Solutions in 1997. The business develops research-based growth strategies for small businesses. Ballard also is a columnist for The Herald Business Journal.

Clothes for the Cause plans two events in area

Clothes for the Cause, a fundraising company that collects clothing and shoes of any kind, in any condition, in exchange for cash to raise money for groups and charities, has two events planned for the area. Enchanted Little Forest located at 7207 Evergreen Way, Everett, is accepting donations through Sept. 30. Camano Chapel MOPS (Moms of Preschoolers) at 867 S. Cocoon House receives $200,000 grant

Cocoon House in Everett, which provides services for teens experiencing homelessness, received a $200,000 federal grant, Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Everett, announced. Larsen visited the organization earlier this month to learn more about its operations and funding needs. The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

EvCC, Cobalt Manufacturing to participate in Manufacturing Day Event

In honor of National Manufacturing Day Oct. 2, local firms are opening their facilities to the public to demonstrate state-of-the-art in manufacturing. BECU lowers loan rates for 30,000 members

This month, more than 30,000 BECU members were notified that they would receive a lower interest rate. Members with a credit card, line of credit or auto loan qualify for the credit union’s unique reprice program that annually evaluates members’ credit scores and payment history automatically lowering a member’s rate if their performance has improved.
