DARRINGTON — A young hiker was flown Monday evening to an Everett hospital after she fell while traveling near the icy flanks of Glacier Peak.
A crews on SnoHAWK10, one of Snohomish County’s search-and-rescue helicopters, located the 17-year-old near the White Chuck Glacier, just south of Glacier Peak. They were summoned after a personal locator beacon was activated at about 6:30 p.m., said Shari Ireton, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish Count Sheriff’s Office.
Other hikers reported that the girl had injured her spine during a fall, Ireton said. She was hoisted onto the helicopter and by 9 p.m. had been flown to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
