EVERETT — Snohomish County Executive John Lovick on Tuesday announced a promotion and a new hire to temporarily fill roles at the highest levels of his administration.
Budget manager Brian Haseleu has been named the county’s acting finance director through the end of the year, Lovick said. Haseleu has more than 25 years of budget experience in business and government, including 11 at the county and nine at Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Loren Sand, a former Lynnwood city administrator and county engineer, has been named as an interim executive director, overseeing functions such as the Public Works Department and Paine Field. Sand worked for 23 years in Lynnwood and retired from Snohomish County in 2002 as the deputy public works director. He later served on Everett’s planning commission.
The vacancies opened this month when Lovick promoted Lenda Crawford, who was performing both roles, to be his deputy executive. That followed the resignation of former Deputy Executive Mark Ericks.
Lovick, who is running for re-election Nov. 3, said he plans to launch a national search to fill both positions long-term.
