BREMERTON — A black bear that injured a father and son after they shot it with an arrow in south Kitsap has been found dead near the attack.
The Kitsap Sun reports Fish and Wildlife officers with help from search dogs located the 150-pound bear Monday about 500 feet from the attack.
Both men had shot the bear with an arrow, but they couldn’t relocate the bear immediately after shooting it. They later found the bear and aimed another arrow when the bear jumped on the son and then bit the father’s arm.
Both men were treated at a hospital and released.
The men were able to take the bear home, because it was killed legally. The bear’s head is being sent off to undergo tests for rabies.
