Will Kam Chancellor play Sunday? That’s one of the big questions headed into the Seahawks’ home opener Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Chancellor just returned to Seattle on Wednesday following a 55-day holdout, and it’s not known if he’s ready to step straight into the fray.
Seattle coach Pete Carroll said the decision on whether Chancellor will play will be made Saturday. However, he said Chancellor reported in great shape, he’s looked good in practice, and he’s maintained that the plan is for Chancellor to play. If Chancellor is activated, the Seahawks will have to make a roster move to get him on the 53-day roster.
Now on to this week’s injury report for the Seahawks and Bears:
SEAHAWKS
Out: CB Tharold Simon (toe), S Steven Terrell (hip).
Questionable: RB Marshawn Lynch (calf), TE Luke Willson (back).
Probable: DE Michael Bennett (toe), LB Mike Morgan (hamstring), LB Bobby Wagner (ankle), CB Cary Williams (thigh), QB Tavaris Jackson (ankle).
Most significantly is Carroll said Lynch would be a game-time decision. Simon misses his second straight game, while Terrell sits out after getting hurt last week at Green Bay. Morgan, who missed the first two game, appears set to return. The rest of those listed as probable are expected to play.
BEARS
Out: QB Jay Cutler (hamstring), WR Alshon Jeffrey (hamstring).
Doubtful: LB Jon Bostic.
Questionable: DE Ego Ferguson (knee), LB Pernell McPhee (knee), CB Tracy Porter (hamstring), WR William Royal (back).
Probable: RB Matt Forte (knee), G Matthew Slauson (thigh), WR Marquess Wilson (shoulder).
Chicago’s passing game takes a major hit as Cutler, the starting QB, and Jeffrey, the team’s No. 1 receiver, are out. The Bears also are sweating out two starters on defense in Ferguson and McPhee.
