Weekend best bets: Pumpkins, salmon fest, home show, more

Fall fun: The Schack-toberfest pumpkin patch is now open in downtown Everett. The patch features 700 glass pumpkins and gourds in all shapes, sizes and colors, all for sale. There will be art activities for kids from 1-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. And you can even make your very own glass pumpkin — with some help, of course — from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and Sunday. For kids: Take the whole family to the Children’s Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at South Whidbey Community Park, 5495 Maxwellton Road, Langley, Whidbey Island. There will be a bouncy house, free lunch, music, magical entertainment, pony rides, crafts, bubbles, games and more.

Big fish: A Return of the Salmon Celebration is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Osprey Park, 801 First St., Sultan. There will be native storytelling, music and dance. There will also be fish viewing tours, food, kids activities and more.

Shiny: Check out gorgeous cars at the Snohomish Hot Rod and Classic Car Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in downtown Snohomish. There will be more than 500 cars and trucks on display.

Giant pumpkins: The Skagit Valley Giant Pumpkin Festival is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Christianson’s Nursery in Mount Vernon. Check out the enormous pumpkins and see who wins the $1,000 prize for the biggest one. There will also be toad races, pony rides, carnival games, farm animals and more.

Homes and more: The Everett Fall Home Show is the weekend. You’ll find lots of tips about sprucing up or selling your home, as well as vendors and seminars. Also, 25 Northwest authors will be there, signing and chatting about their books. Finally, if your home is feeling a little empty, you can adopt an new friend from the Everett Animal Shelter. Fluffy: Meet alpacas from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Alpacas from MaRS, 424 153rd Drive SE, Snohomish. Kids and adults can try out felting for a small fee.
