His day in the sun comes to an end: Speaker of the House John Boehner, who has long fought with some in his own party, stunned much of Washington, D.C., with his announcement that he will step down from his position and leave Congress at the end of October.
Boehner said he was leaving to spend more time away from the tea party.

Don’t tell me you haven’t tried to do that: Our WebMonkey poll this week asked how effective the new High Occupancy Toll lanes on I-405 will be. The lanes are open only to those with three-person carpools or those willing to shell out a toll of up to $10.
Only 3 percent say the toll lanes will ease traffic; 12 percent were undecided and 78 percent will be concentrating really hard to give all the cars in the Lexus lanes a flat tire.
