MUKILTEO — A rescue boat launched from a Washington State Ferry Saturday morning assisted a woman who apparently had become exhausted while diving near the ferry terminal.
The Tokitae was off loading cars when it saw that the diver needed assistance. “She got tired; they were able to pick her up and get her to the shore,” said Ian Sterling, a ferry service spokesman.
Ferry service crews are trained to assist with rescues, to provide first aid, and help vessels in distress, and do so regularly, he said.
The diver’s name and hometown were not available. She was not transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
