On Sept. 19, I came upon an injured, trapped raccoon; it was caught in a groundwater grate, it was bleeding, and with pitiful eyes, asking for help. On a Saturday, a lot of places are closed; I got the help of my neighbor, and we both tried calling numerous numbers, to no avail. I called my vet, and through staff conversations, “Sarvey Wildlife Care Center” in Arlington was mentioned. They came to the rescue — the raccoon was freed, and taken for care at the center. Sarvey is non-profit; I am quite grateful for this center. Some phone calls to other places weren’t acknowledged, because wildlife is of no importance? Yes, all wildlife is, these animals are alive and maintaining life, the best as they can, they are at people’s mercy, they may not be a priority versus domesticated animals, but they have the right to be cared for as much as any living creature. I applaud Sarvey in coming to the rescue. I plan on supporting this caring facility; people caring for all animals are my heroes.
