Just a few notes from around the WHL and beyond today:
Victoria’s Alex Forsberg was named WHL Player of the Week after collected two goals and five assists in the Royals’ two victories over Portland this weekend.
Swift Current goaltender Landon Bow was the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week nominee after he tallied a 1.95 GAA and .957 save percentage in the Broncos’ weekend split with the Brandon Wheat Kings. Bow recorded 53 saves in a 2-1 shootout victory Friday and 36 saves in a 4-1 loss Saturday.
In other news former Silvertip and current Montreal Canadien Nikita Scherbak is scheduled to make his preseason debut tonight against Pittsburgh in Quebec City. Scherbak has been sidelined with an ankle injury during training camp.
In addition Noah Juulsen has been cleared for full contact at the Canadiens’ camp and will likely play Thursday before coming back to Everett per hockeybuzz.com. Juulsen has been recovering from a concussion suffered prior to the Silvertips’ training camp in August.
Finally we’ve got our first poll of the season. It’s pretty simple, so have at it.
