SEATTLE — Seattle Mayor Ed Murray’s proposed 2016 budget includes funding for a body camera for every police officer on patrol, an upgrade to the city’s bike-share system and staff for a new planning department.
The Seattle Times reported that the proposed budget totals $5.1 billion in spending, and would feature $1.1 billion in general-fund spending, a 4.5 percent increase over 2015.
The City Council will hold public hearings on Oct. 6 and Oct. 20 while it reviews the budget. The council will seek to adopt a final version Nov. 23.
