For just the second time since Marshawn Lynch joined the Seahawks in 2010 he will be missing a game.
Lynch, Seatttle’s workhorse running back who was originally considered a game-time decision for Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions, has officially been ruled out because of a hamstring injury.
Since arriving via trade from Buffalo, Lynch has played in 78 of the team’s 79 regular season games and all 10 of the team’s playoff games. The only game he missed was against Cleveland on Oct. 23, 2011 because of a back issue.
With Lynch out, undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls is likely to get the call as Seattle’s lead back. Rawls carried 16 times for 104 yards last week against Chicago as Lynch played sparingly.
The Seahawks also announced that starting defensive tackle Brandon Mebane (groin), who was also considered a game-time decision, will not play. Jordan Hill, who has shown well so far this season, will take Mebane’s spot in the starting lineup.
Also added late to the injury list was starting linebacker Bruce Irvin, who was listed as questionable because of an ankle injury.
