KENT — State Department of Transportation officials say lanes on I-5 north have reopened at South 320th Street near Kent after a collision closed all lanes for a couple hours.
The News Tribune reported all lanes had reopened by about 4:30 p.m. at the scene of the Monday afternoon crash.
South King Fire and Rescue spokesman Jeff Bellinghausen told the News Tribune a car driving south crossed the median and hit an SUV, tearing the car in half and trapping the back end of the car under the SUV. Bellinghausen says the driver was seriously injured and taken to a Seattle hospital for treatment.
Traffic was backed up to seven miles in both directions as troopers cleared the scene and investigated.
