In one of the scheduling quirks of the WHL, a number of teams have already played five games while the Kelowna Rockets have already played seven regular-season contests and will No. 8 tonight.
Meanwhile the Everett Silvertips are at just three games played and awaiting Saturday’s home opener against the Spokane Chiefs.
Not to worry. The Silvertips will see their schedule pick up in mid-November before things really heat up schedule-wise in January.
Tonight’s match-ups featuring Western Conference teams include Vancouver-Moose Jaw, Kootenay-Saskatoon, Tri-City-Kamloops and Spokane-Victoria.
It’s probably too early to care or take seriously, but the BMO CHL rankings are out again today. Calgary is ranked third, Red Deer is No. 9 while Victoria and Prince Albert were both honorable mention.
Thursday the Tips are holding a meet and greet for season ticket holders from 6-7:30 p.m. at Xfinity Arena. Attendees are asked to enter XFINITY Arena through the venue’s main entrance, located at the corner of Hewitt and Oakes.
