I think John Berg (Sunday letter, “Religion at root of much wrong”) is wrong about religion. In the early and middle 20th century, the U.S. had a much stronger backing in religion. There were no school shootings. Religion is not to blame. The young man was very disturbed. Real Christians are not like that at all. I happen to be one myself, and I know for a fact that real Christians are kind and loving and caring. Also, the writer is kind of treating old people rudely. He’ll be one himself one day. Also, the Soviet Union was atheist. Look at the hundreds of millions of people it killed.
