It seems to be the fashion for customer service employees to ask the customer, “How is your day going so far? Do you have something fun planned for this evening? Any big plans for the weekend?” Last year my brother died suddenly while playing tennis. This past July my husband collapsed and died after working out at the gym. Several of my friends are ill with multiple ailments. The last thing I want to be asked about is my plans for having fun because there isn’t much fun in my life right now. How do other readers answer these well-meant but nosy and painful questions?
