STANWOOD — Stanwood and Camano Island residents are invited to a free workshop to learn how to protect waterfront property around Port Susan.
The Oct. 17 event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lake Goodwin Community Club, 17323 42nd Ave. NW, Stanwood.
Coastal processes expert Jim Johannessen is to deliver the presentation. Discussion topics include beach and bluff erosion, enhancing beach access and using native plants to improve slope stability and habitat. Participants also can learn about arranging a free visit to their property by a shoreline-management professional.
The Northwest Straits Foundation and the Snohomish County Marine Resources Committee are hosting the workshop.
