Weekend fun: Beer, Silvertips, racing pumpkins …

Have a beer: The Beer in the Barn Craft Beer Festival is noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Thomas Family Farms, 9010 Marsh Road, Snohomish. More than 20 breweries will bring two beers each, with special beers tapped every hour. Pre-sale tickets are $15 and include a tasting stein and five tasting tickets; tickets are $20 at the door. A VIP ticket includes 15 tasting tickets for $35. There are also activities for kids, including a cow train, corn maze and pumpkin picking. For more information, visit www.beerinthebarn.com.

Catch a game: The Silvertips’ first regular season home game is at 7 p.m. on Saturday against the Spokane Chiefs. Get tickets here.

Pumpkins and more: Enjoy old-fashioned fun from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mansford Grang’s Harvest Festival, 1265 Railroad Ave., Darrington. Activities include a bake sale, pumpkin carving for kids, a giant zucchini contest, veggie critter creations and more.

And they’re off! The Snohomish River Pumpkin Race starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Pumpkins will be dropped in the river and the first to reach the bridge at Avenue D will win a prize for its sponsor. Get more details here. A limited number of pumpkins will be available to sponsor on Saturday.

A fungus among us: The Snohomish County Mycological Society’s annual Mushroom Show is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Floral Hall at Forest Park in Everett. There will be vendors, lectures and demonstrations. Learn to distinguish more than 100 kinds of mushroom. Bring your own samples for identification.

It’s magic! See illusionist Christian Ford at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. The audience gets to join in this interactive show. More at www.historiceveretttheatre.org.

Seasonal fun: A Harvest Festival is all day Saturday at Bothell’s Country Village on the Bothell-Everett Highway. Stroll the grounds to enjoy the corn stalks and pumpkins, craft booths, pumpkin painting, root beer garden, face painting, pony rides, train rides and live entertainment.

Feathered friends: Get an up-close look at live raptors at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mukilteo Library. There will be eagles, hawks, falcons and an owl. The event is presented by Sarvey Wildlife’s educational team.

Rocktoberfest: Marysville Rock and Gem Club’s Gem and Mineral Show is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Totem Middle School, Seventh Street and State Avenue, Marysville. There will be fun for kids, rocks, minerals, fossils, tools, lapidary equipment, jewelry, beads, gems and books. You can also watch demonstrations by rock artists. Free.
