Fishing derby for the blind hauls in the fun
The Everett Central Lions Club held its annual Salmon Derby For The Blind on Sept. 27. Volunteer captains and crew members assisted 42 blind and visually impaired participants. Nearly all of them caught fish.
This year the winning fish was caught by 16-year-old Gage Stevens. Stevens received $500 from John’s Sporting Goods of Everett.
The largest salmon was caught by Gage Hancock, age 16. The smallest fish was caught by Tramell Johnson, age 6. All participants and captains were given prizes.
Program chair Keith Goodell credited local donors for helping to make the event possible. Sponsors included John’s Sporting Goods, Greg’s Rod and Reels, Everett Yacht Club, Edmonds Puget Sound Anglers, and the Everett Salmon and Steelhead Club.
