The early bird rates for tickets to Heritage Days, a banquet and auction Nov. 13 to support the Edmonds Historical Museum, is ending soon. Tickets are $65 if purchased before Oct. 20 and $70 thereafter. The event is scheduled from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church Parish Hall, 630 7th Ave N. Tickets may be purchased online at www.historicedmonds.org, by phone at 425-774-0900, or in person at the Edmonds Historical Museum, 118 Fifth Avenue N. The Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday between 1 and 4 p.m.
Brush up on Lynnwood fire options: The Lynnwood Fire Department may be changing shape and size. As the city explores its options, including signing a contract and forming a new agency altogether to handle fire protection and emergency medical services, a new website is available to answer some of the basic questions: www.ci.lynnwood.wa.us/fireserviceopportunities. In addition, a public meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Lynnwood Senior Center along 44th Avenue W.
Mulch fire closes road: A stubborn fire in a pile of mulch caused the overnight closure of a stretch of roadway near Bothell.
The closure affected traffic on 228th Street SW from 4th to 14th Avenue W. The City of Bothell announced the road was reopened around 10 a.m. Monday.
The fire was reported around 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Fruhling Sand and Topsoil business in the 1000 block of 228th Street SW. No injuries were reported.
The fire is isolated to one debris pile and will be monitored by firefighters until it is extinguished, said Kirsten Clemens, a fire department spokeswoman. That could take time.
Firefighters are working to minimize smoke and air quality impacts, she said. People living in the area can expect to see light smoke until the fire is extinguished.
