PORT ORCHARD — Authorities are investigating a home invasion in Port Orchard in which burglars pepper-sprayed the residents’ dog and made off with several items while the dog was immobilized.
KOMO-TV reports that Rick Olsen says he came home Friday and knew something was wrong when his dog Sparky didn’t greet him at the door. He says he found the small dog foaming at the mouth with his eyes closed.
Rick and his wife Lisa say the thieves took $20,000 worth of their electronics and jewelry. The thieves had broken into the home using a piece of metal to pry open the front door.
Authorities aren’t sure if recent burglaries in south Kitsap County are connected.
The sheriff’s office says the attack on Sparky is a first.
