MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — An 11-year-old girl’s walk home from school turned into a run after an unnerving encounter with a man offering a ride, the girl’s mother told Mountlake Terrace Police.
The girl was walking home from Mountlake Terrace Elementary School on Friday afternoon when a man driving a blue BMW asked her if she needed a ride or was lost, according to police.
She said no, and the man drove away.
The girl’s mother told police that her daughter was frightened by the encounter and hid in some shrubs.
The man came back, got out of his car and looked around. He eventually left, and the girl ran home, according to a news release from the city of Mountlake Terrace.
Police are looking for information about the encounter, which happened at about 4:20 p.m. The man was white with brown hair and driving a blue BMW. People can call Mountlake Terrace Police at 425-670-8260 or 911.
