LYNNWOOD — The suspect in a September homicide in Lynnwood has been arrested in California.
Christopher Garcia Gonzalez, 23, was arrested for investigation of second-degree murder and motor vehicle theft. He was being held in the Santa Clara County Jail on Friday while awaiting extradition to Snohomish County.
Christopher Davis was found dead Sept. 20 at a Lynnwood apartment after police were asked to check on him.
Davis, 32, attended Port Angeles and Port Townsend high schools. He earned at bachelor’s degree in music at Western Washington University and a master’s degree in piano performance from the University of Washington, according to his obituary.
During their investigation, Lynnwood detectives discovered Davis’ car had been stolen.
They entered the identifying information into a nationwide stolen vehicle database. They also obtained several search warrants.
A Santa Clara Transit police officer spotted the car and detained Gonzalez. Lynnwood detectives flew to California shortly after learning of the arrest to interview the suspect, Lynnwood police Cmdr. Jim Nelson said.
