As a 72-year-old senior citizen that is starting to depend on the bus more, I fully intend to vote yes for the sales tax increase to support more bus service.
I agree that more bus service is needed. I often take the bus (512) from Everett to Seattle. The bus runs every 15 minutes and is full, with standing room only on most runs, indicating maybe that more buses are needed to serve everyone who wants to ride.
I think as of now it has reached its saturation point. The real problem is in Everett and all the other park-and-ride lots. They are full by 8 a.m. and the cars stay there all day long (which is expected.)
More parking is needed before more buses are put into service. It would do no good to build more parking at the existing park-and-ride lots. The lots now extend so far out that you almost have to catch a bus to catch the bus you want to travel on. I think a couple more park-and-ride lots are needed at stops other than the transit centers, and these stops included into the present schedule. It does no one any good to drive to a transit center to catch a bus, only to find no where to park your car. You end up going home or driving where you wanted to ride the bus in the first place.
Vote yes, I agree for more bus service, but include a place to park a car in order to be able to ride the bus.
