PORT GAMBLE — A commercial diver working on an underwater environmental study off the coast of Port Gamble has died.
The Coast Guard, the Kitsap County sheriff’s office and members of the public searched for the 25-year-old after he failed to surface with his team Monday evening.
The Seattle Times reported that search-and-rescue divers found his body around 9 p.m. in 20 feet of water about 60 yard offshore.
Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Ken Dickinson says further information about the diver and his company will be released after his family has been notified.
