SEATTLE — Officials say a ferry that had been delayed between Seattle and Bainbridge Island due to a search and rescue operation in Elliott Bay is back in service.
Washington State Department of Transportation officials said in a statement Wednesday evening that a ferry from Seattle to the island was delayed. It resumed service just after 7 p.m.
The agency received a call of a person overboard from the ferry Puyallup around 5:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials say it isn’t clear if the call came from someone on the ferry or if anyone saw a person go overboard. KING-TV reported Wednesday that the sighting may have been a large mammal.
Coast Guard crews and local agencies participated in the search.
