Members of Machinists union District Lodge 751 plan to picket Monday at Everett-based Cadence-Giddens.
Workers at the aerospace supplier voted in May to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).
Union members from other companies, such as Boeing, which employs about 31,000 Machinists in Washington, will be picketing in support of Cadence-Giddens employees engaged in contract negotiations, IAM District Lodge 751 said in a press release.
Contract talks began in July. The union has filed five Unfair Labor Practice complaints against Cadence-Giddens management with the National Labor Relations Board.
Cadence-Giddens’ two plants have more than 225 workers covered by the contract talks. It is one of the most profitable operations of parent company Cadence Aerospace, according to District 751.
The company did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
“Our members at Cadence-Giddens are doing the hard work that makes the company profitable, and they deserve a fair share of the profits they create,” said Richard Jackson, the IAM lead negotiator, in the press release. “Our union has 33,000 members who will stand behind the workers at Giddens until they get a fair contract.”
