Who said Mondays had to be a bad thing?
Two of hard rocks bigger names are heading to Everett, as Shinedown and Breaking Benjamin share the stage at Xfinity Arena for a show at 7 p.m. Oct. 26.
Shinedown got its start in Jacksonville, Florida, releasing its debut album, “Leave a Whisper,” in 2003. While that record only debuted at No. 53, it established the group, going on to sell a million copies. It also cemented a fan base for the act’s melodic, guitar-driven sound.
Since then, Shinedown’s next four studio albums have all been quick successes, producing a string of No. 1 hits on rock radio, including “Sound of Madness,” “Devour,” and “The Crow and the Butterfly.”
The group is touring now behind its latest disc, “Threat to Survival,” which hit No. 6 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in September.
Like Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin bears a debt to grunge rock — the act has even worked with Smashing Pumpkins’ front man Billy Corgan. But Breaking Benjamin has a slightly harder edge than Shinedown, not to mention a No. 1 album.
The Pennsylvania band broke through after the release of its second album, 2003’s “We Are Not Alone,” which featured hit singles including “So Cold” and “Sooner or Later.” Since then, its albums have been a reliable presence on the charts, with its latest, “Dark Before Dawn,” topping the Billboard 200 in June.
With both acts laying claim to loyal fans, don’t be surprised if the sidewalks in downtown Everett get clogged — even if it is a Monday night.
Tickets are $39.75 to $45 at xfinityarenaeverett.com or 866-332-8499.
