Hometown Halloween
A full day of Halloween festivities is planned for Saturday in downtown Arlington. Hometown Halloween includes a pumpkin carving contest at Arlington Hardware on Olympic Avenue with judging at 1 p.m.
Pumpkins can be dropped off Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon.
There also will be a Taking Steps to Beat Breast Cancer 5K at 10:30 a.m. Saturday on Olympic Avenue, a Harvest Party at Arlington United Church from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., trick-or-treating at downtown businesses from noon to 1 p.m., and a costume contest at 1 p.m. in Legion Park.
Fire district budget discussion set: Camano Island Fire and Rescue plans a public hearing at 7 p.m. Monday at headquarters, 811 North Sunrise Blvd. Comments are needed on the 2016 budget. Drafts of the budget are available in advance. More info: mschick@camanofire.com.
Stanwood police station open house: Stanwood police are hosting an open house in the newly remodeled police station at 8727 271st St. NW. The event goes from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
